Welcome to Art's Odd Jobs!

Please pardon the mess, this site is very
much under construction (as is the
business itself).  Aside from working on
the site, I still have some legal issues to
work out before I am officially open for
business anyway.  I have a few pics up in
the products section.  Take a look around,
and let me know what you think.  Thanks
for stopping by, and don't forget to
bookmark and check back later.

So, just who is Art and what are his Jobs?
Art
Art Novotny is a twenty-eight year old Harford
County farmhand.  He did the whole college
thing a few years ago and enjoyed getting a
bachelor's degree in English Literature, but
just couldn't leave
Olney Farm.  While
someday he may want to become a teacher,
right now he's just a hammer swingin' kind of
guy.  He is now going back to school and
enrolled in Harford Community College's
Building Preservation and Restoration
program where he can actually swing his
hammer in class!
The Jobs
Between work and school, Art is trying to find a way to parlay his handy-man
abilities into a side job...and eventually a side career.  Stemming mostly from his
agricultural roots, Art's odd jobs can be broken down into products and services:
A Note on Quality
Most of my products exhibit a “rustic charm.”  Note the emphasis on the “rust,” as
one of my most common raw materials for metal-wares is used horse shoes.  This is
actually supposed to be a selling point.  Each of my products is unique, and that is
both the cost and the beauty of hand crafting.  If you want something that looks
perfect, just like every other piece that came off the boat from China, Walmart can
probably sell it to you for less than the price I would have to pay for raw materials.  I
simply cannot compete in that market.  My only hope is that there are still a few folks
who value the character (imperfections and all) of wares from local craftsman.

Services:
  • Lawn Mower- repair, maintenance, blade
    sharpening--also chainsaws, weedwhackers,
    snowblowers, etc.
  • Light Automotive- oil changes, battery testing,
    maintenance and light repair.
  • Tree and Shrub- pruning and removal
  • Fences- high tensile, split rail, board, picket, etc.
  • General Handyman
  • Junk Removal
Why Art is a very UNsatisfied Sprint/Nextel customer.
